As promised, OnePlus brought Concept One to CES 2020, a prototype of a smartphone with an “invisible” camera.
How it works
As it turned out, the smartphone is made in the styleMcLaren is a well-known automaker, under whose brand OnePlus creates premium versions of its flagships. The rear panel of the OnePlus Concept One is finished in leather, and the racing brand's logo is visible on top.

Well, now let’s move on to that “invisible” onecamera. This is the main camera with three modules, located under glass. Or more precisely, under five ultra-thin layers, the middle of which is the most important electrochromic material.
This coating darkens when feddirectional charge current. That is, when the camera is turned off, the glass is dark and the lenses behind it are not visible, but as soon as the camera application is activated, the coating becomes transparent. And it takes only 0.7 seconds.

The same technology is used in McLaren aircraft and sports cars.
The idea is, of course, interesting, but for now it’s just a prototype. Whether such a smartphone will go on sale and how much it will cost is still unknown.
