OnePlus showed black Concept One with disappearing camera

A few weeks ago, at CES 2020 in Las Vegas, OnePlus showed a prototype of a smartphone

with the “invisible” camera of the OnePlus Concept One. Now the manufacturer has published an interview with the developers of the device.

What told

Of course, the main topic of conversation is the camera.Like McLaren cars, it is hidden behind dark glass that turns transparent when the camera is activated. This technology is called Electrochromic Glass.

According to the developers, to establish thisIt took them three whole months to complete the mechanism. As a result, it was possible to achieve a very fast response of the glass: the coating darkens when a directed current charge is applied and becomes transparent in just 0.7 seconds, that is, even faster than the camera itself turns on.

OnePlus also showed the Concept One in black. The rear panel also features leather trim and the McLaren racing brand logo.
