PC users gain access to technology to speed up the loading of games from SSD

DirectStorage technology, which speeds up loading games from NVMe SSDs, has become available on PCs with Windows 10 and 11. Discuss

The DirectStorage API has reportedly become available on Windows. Thanks to this, developers will be able to release games that support this technology.

Essentially, DirectStorage allows you to take advantage ofall the benefits of NVMe SSDs. Among them: reducing the loading time of levels. The API will provide support for parallel I / O requests, and will also provide an opportunity to effectively organize the exchange of information between the drive and the video card.

DirectStorage support should appear, for example, in Forspoken, which will be released in October. It will also appear in other games. More details about the technology will be discussed at the upcoming GDC 2022. It will be possible to count on the most complete support for DirectStorage only in Windows 11.
