People have exhausted resources designed for the whole of 2022, nature will not have time to restore them

According to the Global Footprint Network and WWF, this date is called Earth's eco-debt day. This is the turning point when

people have used up everything that ecosystems can restore in one year.

“From January 1 to July 28, humanity used all the resources that should have lasted until at least the end of 2022,” said Mathis Wackernagel, president of the Global Footprint Network.

Ecological Debt Day is moving furtherfrom the end of the year. Last year it came on July 29, this year it is July 28. The trend was broken only in 2020, when, due to the outbreak of the pandemic, the day fell on August 22.

To reduce the ecological footprint and push backthe date of the eco-debt day, it is necessary to consciously and carefully treat nature and its riches, for example, save water, electricity, do not buy unnecessary goods, follow eco-labels on packages, and also behave responsibly in nature while traveling.
