Poland buys 48 Korean FA-50 fighter jets, contract amount is $3,000,000,000

Poland has signed a contract with Korea Aerospace Industries for the purchase of FA-50 fighter jets.

said the head of the Ministry's Armaments AgencyPolish Defense Krzysztof Płatek. We are talking about 12 FA-50 and 36 FA-50PL aircraft (modified according to Polish requirements). The cost of the first fighters is $700,000,000. Their deliveries should begin in 2023.

FA-50PL will cost the Poles $2,300,000,000. Their deliveries are scheduled for 2025-2028.

For those who are not in the know

The FA-50 is a two-seat supersonic jetairplane. It was developed by the South Korean company KAI together with the American company Lockheed Martin. The program was funded 17% by KAI, 13% by Lockheed Martin and 70% by the South Korean government. Serial production of the aircraft began in 2003.
