PS VR 2: two modes of operation, play area settings and other details

The next-generation PlayStation VR is slowly but surely approaching release. On the PlayStation Blog, a Sony employee shared

fresh details about the features of PS VR2.

  • The headset will allow you to see the world around youthrough the front cameras - the helmet does not have to be removed to, for example, find the controllers. This function works only for viewing - you cannot record video from the camera.

  • By connecting an HD camera to your PS5, you can record yourself while playing in VR.

  • The play area in the room can be customized withusing controllers and built-in cameras. If during the game you approach the set limits, you will receive a warning. The settings will be saved until you move to another game zone.

  • PS VR2 will offer two image output modes:
    • VR mode. Content is displayed in a virtual space with a 360-degree view. The video format is 4000x2040 HDR (2000x2040 per eye) at 90Hz or 120Hz refresh rate.
    • Cinematic mode.It lets you explore PS5 menus, as well as non-VR gaming and media content on a virtual cinema screen. The picture format is 1920 × 1080 HDR with a refresh rate of 24/60/120 Hz.
