Published test video of the world's first propeller with 11 blades

The world's first 11-blade propeller successfully completed its first test flight, reported the

press release from its developer MT-Propeller. This is another achievement for the developer, who previously produced five-, seven- and nine-blade propellers.

On a Piper PA31T1 equipped with propellerPowered by P&W PT6A-135A turbines, the world's first 11-blade aircraft propeller took to the skies with impressive noise and sound performance. Promising static thrust results, a 15 percent increase over a standard certified 5-blade propeller and jet noise performance once again showed what propellers are capable of.

This propeller system, combined with low-speed power from a turbine or electric motor, opens up new possibilities for performance, efficiency and noise.

MT-Propeller company founded in 1981Gerd Mühlbauer, has more than 27 certified propeller designs that can be combined with more than 220 aerodynamic blade designs. The company says it supplies propellers for more than 90 percent of aircraft produced in Europe that use piston or gas turbine engines.

The propeller development team recorded15% increase in static thrust of the new propeller compared to five-bladed propellers from the same company. The development team hopes that the aircraft's propeller system, combined with a low-RPM power source, could open up new possibilities for performance, efficiency and noise. The low speed power source can be a turbine or even an electric motor.
