Qualcomm introduced Snapdragon 4 Gen 2: 4-nanometer processor for budget smartphones

Qualcomm unexpectedly announced a new processor for budget smartphones.

What is known

New

called Snapdragon 4 Gen 2.The chip is the successor to the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1. It is built on a 4-nanometer process technology and boasts two new performance cores clocked at 2.2 GHz. The chip also received six energy-efficient cores at 2.0 GHz. According to Qualcomm, overall SoC performance has increased by 10%.

Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 canboasts support for FHD+ screens at 120 Hz, as well as LPDDR5x RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, up to 108 MP cameras and Quick Charge 4+ fast charging technology. The processor comes with a built-in 5G modem X61, Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1. Unfortunately, there is no information about the schedule of the new product yet.

When to expect

The first devices based on the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC will appear in the second half of 2023.
