Qualcomm, without fanfare, launched its new 600 series processor for budget
What is known
The new product was called Snapdragon 678.The chipset has become a slightly improved version of the Snapdragon 675, which was shown back in 2018. The SoC received the main Cortex A76 core overclocked to 2.2 GHz (versus 2.0 GHz in the Snapdragon 675). Otherwise, the new product remains the same. That is, the chip is built using an 11-nanometer process technology. It has an Adreno 612 graphics accelerator, a Spectra 250L ISP module for photo processing, and a Snapdragon X12 LTE modem.
Snapdragon 678 supports displays witha resolution of 2520×1080p, a maximum 48 MP main camera, a 16 MP front camera with the ability to record videos in 4K 30fps, as well as Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC.
When to expect
The first smartphones based on the Snapdragon 678 SoC should hit the market in the first half of 2021.
