Qualcomm: every Galaxy S23 will get our chipset

Qualcomm has published a transcript of its quarterly call with investors. In its initial part, financial

Director of the company Akash Palkhivala said thatThe current surplus of chipsets among smartphone manufacturers has a negative impact on sales, but the company expects an increase in orders from Samsung by March next year. One of the listeners, senior analyst at Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. Stacy Aaron Rasgon found this combination of statements strange. During the question and answer section, she asked Palkhivala where Samsung's order growth would come from if it, like everyone else, was suffering from an oversupply of chipsets?

Here is Akash Palkhivala's response in full:“Got it, Stacey. This is Akash. In terms of the first quarter, you are right, the benefit from the launch of a new Samsung phone will be… sometime in the second half of the first quarter. And although the effect will be towards the end of the quarter, there will be an advantage as our share of 75% in G S22 increases to a global share in G S23.” It's not hard to guess what Akash means: the Galaxy S23 will come with Qualcomm chipsets worldwide. Undoubtedly, we are talking about Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

Thus, it remains completely incomprehensiblethe fate of the Exynos line. Suppose there will be no new flagship chipset - but will they refuse to create budget SoCs along with it, for example, to replace the Exynos 850 and Exynos 1280. In addition, it is not clear whether Samsung plans to continue working with Google on the Tensor line - or whether the search giant you have to support it yourself. Well, we are waiting for new news from Samsung's semiconductor business.
