Qualcomm introduced Snapdragon 720G, 662 and 460: chips with improved performance, support for Wi-Fi 6 and without 5G

Qualcomm showed the Snapdragon 865, Snapdragon 765 and Snapdragon 765G processors in December, and now the manufacturer has released more

several new products.

What is known

We are talking about Snapdragon 720G, Snapdragon 662 andSnapdragon 460. All three new products received improved performance, Bluetooth 5.1, Dual-frequency GNSS for precise positioning, higher energy efficiency, improved AI functions, as well as Wi-Fi 6 and NavIC (Indian regional satellite navigation system, an analogue of GPS and GLONASS). 5G network support was not delivered.

The older model Snapdragon 720G issuccessor to Snapdragon 710/712. The G in the name means that the SoC is part of Qualcomm's gaming line of processors and comes with the Elite Gaming feature. The chip is built on an 8nm process and uses the new Kryo 465 cores in a big.LITTLE configuration. The Snapdragon 720G received an updated Spectra 360L ISP module for image processing and support for 120 Hz displays.

Snapdragon 662 is located between Snapdragon660 and Snapdragon 670. It is equipped with a Spectra 340T ISP module, which improves image quality in low-light conditions. It also has support for augmented reality features.

Snapdragon 460, in turn,successor to the Snapdragon 450. According to the company, it has become twice as productive. The processor received new Kryo 240 cores and an updated Adreno 610 video accelerator, which supports the Vulkan graphical interface.

When to expect

Smartphones based on Snapdragon 720G are expected in the first quarter of 2020, and devices with Snapdragon 662 and Snapdragon 460 chips are expected at the end of 2020.
