Qualcomm prepares 6th and 7th Snapdragon processors with integrated 5G modem

Qualcomm yesterday held a press conference at the IFA 2019 exhibition in Berlin, at which it shared

with your plans.

What told

This year, some OEMs beganrelease flagship devices with support for the fifth generation network based on the Snapdragon 855 chip. Soon there will be even more such smartphones, as the company is preparing for the release of mid-budget Snapdragon 6th and 7th series processors with 5G support.

There are no details about the new products, it is only known thatthey will be built on a 7-nanometer process technology and will have integrated modems, like the Kirin 990 and Exynos 980. Already 20 manufacturers have signed contracts to supply these SoCs. These include LG, HMD Global, OPPO, Realme, Redmi, Vivo and Motorola.

When to expect

A commercial sample of the Snapdragon 7 series processor was promised to be released at the end of this year. The first smartphones based on the Snapdragon 6 series will appear in the second half of 2020.
