Both MediaTek and Qualcomm are developing new flagship SoCs that will form the basis of most top-end smartphones.
According to these data, the production of the flagship SoCQualcomm Snapdragon 898will be handled by the South Korean company Samsung. The chip will be produced using a 4-nanometer process. The new SoC will consist of 8 processor cores and an integrated Adreno 730 graphics accelerator. The processor cores are divided into several clusters – one fast Cortex-X2 with a clock speed of 3 GHz, another 3 cores with a frequency of 2.5 GHz Cortex-A710 with average performance and 4x economical Cortex-A510 cores with a clock speed of 1.79 GHz.
ConcerningMediaTek Dimensity 2000, then this chip will have identicalconfiguration as the Qualcomm SoC, but the three middle cores will run at a higher clock speed – 2.85 GHz vs 2.5 GHz. The built-in graphics accelerator here is the Mali-G710 MC10. The new MediaTek SoCs will be produced using the 4-nanometer process technology of the Taiwanese company TSMC.
When exactly should new processors come out?Qualcomm and MediaTek are not reported. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 is expected to be announced during Qualcomm's traditional meeting with its partners every December.
