Germany, together with Israel, plans to create an electronic warfare system for Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft.
What is known
The German Air Force is modernizingelectronic warfare system used in aviation. The development of the new complex will be carried out by the German company Hensoldt and the Israeli Rafael Advanced Defense Systems.
The essence of modernization lies in the unificationoperation of the Sky Shield and Kalätron Attack systems. The first was developed by Rafael and is responsible for jamming signals. The second is a product of Hensoldt and ensures the neutralization of enemy air defense systems by creating interference.
The project will take six years to complete.The current Eurofighter Typhoon fighters, which are in service with the Luftwaffe, are equipped with the CAPTOR radar system, the PIRATE target recognition system and the Prätorian electronic warfare system.
