This design using stainless steeland glass cases, brings us back to the time of the iPhone 4 / 4S devices, which were widely popular among Apple technology fans. Nevertheless, Apple switched to the use of aluminum, starting with the iPhone 5 model, and this tradition has remained unchanged up to the latest smartphone models, that is, up to and including the iPhone 7/7 Plus models. So, we are waiting for another turn in design approaches in a combination of glass and steel, since the release of the “iPhone 8” device this year.

There is also a smart connector at the bottom of the back panel, making this device similar to the iPad Pro. This particular aspect has not previously appeared in rumors, so it is likely that the designers simply added this feature for the future. It was previously believed that the iPhone 7 Plus would have a built-in smart connector, but later this rumor did not prove its validity. So, it is possible that Apple will use this feature in the next generations of the iPhone.
