Counterpoint analysts reported that Made in India smartphone shipments grew by 7% in the first quarter of 2022.
The report says that growth is associated with an increase indemand for smartphones, as well as with the increase in exports in the country. Various initiatives by the Government of India to stimulate local production have also played a huge role.
Oppo has become the largest suppliersmartphones "Made in India" in the first quarter of 2022 with 10.36 million shipments, helping it achieve a market share of 21.6%. Oppo is followed by Samsung, which shipped 10.22 million units, coming in second with a 21.3% share. Third-party EMS companies were able to maintain a 42 percent share of local production.
