Retro gamepads turned into controllers for Nintendo Switch

An enthusiast has created custom controllers for the Nintendo Switch based on the Wavebird wireless gamepad from the GameCube console.

The latter was first published in 2001.

The enthusiast showed his creation in a video onShank Mods YouTube channel. With its unusual controllers, the Nintendo Switch truly looks like a retro console. The body of the Wavebird remained, but the “internals” had to be taken from the Joy-Con. The enthusiast assembled the controllers for several months.

He promised to publish CAD files for everyonewishing, but warned that remaking controllers is quite difficult. The author needed to change some electrical and logic circuits, add buttons, and so on.

It is worth noting that the enthusiast does not plan to sell his creation. Therefore, it remains only to watch the video published by him.
