Robot gait made even more human

German experts taught the humanoid robot LOLA to stick to walls with its hands when walking along

difficult terrain. So the robot’s gait became even more human-like.

Using your hands when walking is not typical for robots like LOLA. He has 26 active joints and cameras in his head, which allow him to make a volumetric map of the surrounding space.

The robot also uses an algorithm - it is in advancecalculates hand movements. The device is able to create a map and mark zones on it - floor, walls and individual objects. How the robot walks can be seen in the video below. In the video, he lost his balance due to a slipped plate under his foot, but resisted, grabbing the walls.
