Rocket launched into space from a huge helium balloon

The launch took place in Lenghu, this is the northwest of China, Qinghai Province. On command from Earth, the rocket with the balloon scored

the required altitude and launched into space.

The design was created by Xingjian Tianhang companySpace Technology in collaboration with the Institute of Atmospheric Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. According to the team involved in the development, this approach can be used to study near space. This is a gap at an altitude of 20 km to 100 km; airplanes do not fly here and satellites do not descend, they note.

“Our launch is the first of its kind in the world. This is a major technological breakthrough,” said Zhang Yichi, CEO of Xingjian Tianhang.

Rockets can carry scientific instruments for comprehensive study of the atmosphere, Earth observation, and other applications.

The ball was constructed from thin plastic andfilled with helium at zero pressure. As the ball rose higher and higher, it increased in size, but remained intact. Thanks to this, he successfully rose to the desired height and remained there until the rocket was launched.

Nevertheless, such a design is difficult to manage, and its launch is also seriously dependent on the weather.
