Romania orders Naval Strike Missile coastal defense systems worth $138.65 million

The Romanian government has decided to strengthen the country's coastal defense with the help of Norwegian Naval Strike systems

What is known

A couple of days ago we wrote that the Netherlands will replaceHarpoon on NSM, and the UK did the same in late autumn. Now Bucharest has joined Copenhagen and London. But Romania is not only acquiring missiles.

Norwegian company Kongsberg Defense &Aerospace received from Rayhteon Missiles & Defense contract worth $138.65 million. The deal was approved by the United States back in October 2020. The agreement provides for the supply of two coastal defense systems with four launchers.

The NSM missile has a launch range of 185 km and can reach speeds of over 1170 km/h. The mass of the warhead is 125 kg, and the total weight, taking into account the accelerator, is 400 kg.
