The corresponding statement of the head of Roscosmos was published in his telegram channel:
"Yes, we
we will lose a few years, but we will repeat ourlanding module, we will provide it with a launch vehicle «Angara» and from the new launch complex of the «Vostochny» Let’s conduct this research expedition ourselves.”
Dmitry Rogozin, head of Roscosmos
He also published a letter from the head of the ESAJosef Aschbacher: the functionary notified the Russian side in writing about the withdrawal of partners from the Martian project. Moreover, it is worth noting that the launch of the ExoMars mission was scheduled for September 2022. Rogozin considers this event "bitter for all space enthusiasts."

The reason for ESA's withdrawal from the common mission was the international situation, including in the field of science and business - sanctions against the Russian Federation do not allow ESA to work with Roscosmos.
In turn, Lev Zeleny, head of the Institute of Space Research (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, previously only allowed for the postponement of the mission launch to 2024.
Recall that the ExoMars station was supposed to look for signs of the existence of life on Mars. Moreover, ESA was responsible for the flight module, and Roskosmos was responsible for the landing module.
