Rotary blast engine tested for the first time

For the first time, a rocket engine powered by rotating explosions has been tested. Previously it was believed that such a system

impossible to do.

The tests were carried out by University researcherscentral Florida. The operating principle of the system, called a rotating detonation rocket engine, is to detonate hydrogen and oxygen. In this case, the blast waves rotate continuously. In the experiment, it was possible to achieve rotation at a speed five times greater than the speed of sound.

The technology has reportedly been studied since the 1960s, but has not been successful due to the propellants used or the way they are mixed.

Such a system can improve efficiency.rocket engines: they will use less fuel and generate a lot of energy. This will make missiles easier, as well as reduce harmful emissions from launches.
