analyst Jarosław Wolski. This does not count the 250 Abrams M1A2 SEPv3 tanks that the Poles have already ordered. Thanks to this decision, the country's armed forces will be able to retire the old PT-91 models. Presumably, they will then go to Ukraine. By the way, Poland now has 232 PT-91 tanks.

Let us remind you that PT-91 is the Polish main combattank based on a licensed version of the Soviet T-72M1. The first prototypes of the PT-91 were made in 1993. The basic version of the tank was serially produced at the Bumar-Labenda plant from 1995 to 2002. The main feature of the PT-91 is the Twardy protection using active armor developed by ERAWA. It has 394 blocks. They cover the front of the hull and the turret. These blocks are placed with virtually no gaps to each other. Tests have shown that ERAWA blocks increase tank protection by 30-70%, depending on the type of projectile.
