Russia has developed a smartphone self-charging system

A Perm Polytechnic student has developed a “self-charging” system built into a smartphone. She turns

mechanical energy during movement into electrical energy. Technology can save you in an extreme situation when you need to make an urgent call.

Advantages of the system compared to power banksobvious: low weight and volume, the possibility of self-charging. The device has a built-in pendulum, a generator and a capacitor for energy storage. For one shift of the pendulum, 50 mV and 200 pA of energy should be generated.

“Technology can be adapted for use inphones, smart watches and other devices that require charging from any power source. However, today it is difficult to achieve high efficiency of a self-charging device due to the high power consumption of devices that require charging (phones, watches, etc.) and the low degree of scientific and technological progress in the field of creating microgenerators,” said Ivan Frolov, the author of the development.
