The US said this week that Russia is considering buying Iranian drones. How did it happen?

It is known that representatives of the Russian Federation visited Iran and studied the capabilities of two drones.

What is known

This was announced by Jay Sullivan, Advisor fornational security of the United States. Despite the fact that the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs denied the information about the supply of drones to Russia, the United States believes that the Iranian government will still send several hundred combat-ready UAVs to the Russian Federation.

In particular, we are talking about drones Shahed-191 andShahed-129, each of which can carry precision-guided missiles. Last month, Iran demonstrated the capabilities of unmanned aerial vehicles to a Russian delegation at the Kashan airfield near Tehran. Once again, the Russians visited Iran in early July.

Shahed-191 is a drone that wasdeveloped from a captured RQ-170 Sentinel drone in 2011. It has an autonomy of up to 270 minutes and is capable of flying up to 450 km. Optionally, the unmanned aerial vehicle is equipped with Sadid-342 bombs.
