Russia plans to tighten punishment for Internet threats

The Public Chamber of the Russian Federation said that Russia plans to toughen punishment for Internet threats, and

also insults and bullying on the Internet. The corresponding initiative has already been sent to the State Duma and the Federation Council.

So, the latest document says that forthreats of murder and infliction of grievous bodily harm must be punished with forced labor for up to seven years, and in case of slander, a fine of up to 6 million rubles. By the way, right now Russian legislation does not provide for any punishment for such actions.

”Since the law on insults andthreats act in our real life, they should extend to the same extent to the virtual space, the border with which our physical being is rapidly erasing, ”said Senator Irina Rukavishnikova about this.
