Russia will create a rocket to protect the Earth from asteroids

In Russia they decided to create a new space complex to protect the Earth from falling cosmic bodies, for example

asteroids. It will include a reusable rocket.

Scientists from the State University are working on the projectrocket center named after Academician V.P.Makeev together with engineers from SUSU and JSC "NIIMash". SUSU specialists, in particular, will create a reusable single-stage space launch vehicle. It will be able to deliver up to seven tons of payload into low-Earth orbit. Between flights, the rocket can be prepared in just 24 hours.

The press service of NIIMash JSC informs that the experts intend to test the first prototype of the launch vehicle only in 2028.

Earlier, the media have already written that Russia is developing a reusable single-stage launch vehicle.
