Russia will launch satellites to search for lost people

In March 2021, Russia will launch five satellites to search for lost people. They will be able to track

anyone or anything outside of mobile or Wi-Fi range.

Five devices will be launched by Sputniks withBaikonur. They will be equipped with cameras to image the Earth and an Internet of Things payload. Thanks to this, it will be possible to determine the location of people in hard-to-reach areas.

In the future, satellites will even help search for missing people if they don't have their phones with them. This will allow a neural network that will determine a person’s location based on images taken from space.

Experts also suggest using compact satellite terminals. Tourists can take such devices with them on a hike. They will help out if the smartphone battery runs out.
