Russian ATMs began scanning their face instead of reading a bank card

The first ATMs capable of scanning faces have begun to appear in Russia, allowing users

use the device without using a plastic card. Thus, it is reported that pilot projects were launched by banks such as Tinkoff and Sberbank.

As for VTB, then according to the representativecompanies, testing of modern ATMs is also planned this year. In addition, the possibility of introducing biometrics in ATMs is also being considered by Promsvyazbank and Ak Bars Bank. It is noted that at the moment there are several dozen new generation ATMs operating in the country, which are installed in shopping and entertainment centers in Moscow.

Rostelecom experts warned thatface scanning is not the safest method. So, according to them, the drawing of blood vessels in the palm is considered a much more reliable biometric material. It is noted that banks prefer scanning of the face, since expensive equipment is needed to identify the vessels of the palm.
