Samsung unveils new flagships Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra with S Pen: what is the difference and what has changed

Samsung today introduced its new flagships Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra. Due to the coronavirus pandemic

Galaxy Note 20

The smartphone has a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Plusdisplay with FHD+ resolution (2400×1080) and HDR10+ support. Unlike the older model, the screen here is flat. The 10-megapixel front camera is housed in a circular cutout in the middle. Ultrasonic under-screen fingerprint scanner.

The main camera consists of three modules, butlost the 108 MP sensor and 5x optical zoom, like the Note 20 Ultra. The rectangular block on the rear panel houses a 64 MP telephoto module (f/2.0) with 3x optical zoom and optical stabilization, a 12 MP wide-angle camera (f/1.8) with optical stabilization, and a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle camera (f/ 2.2) with a viewing angle of 120 degrees. A 30x zoom and support for shooting up to 8K at 24 fps are announced. But fast laser autofocus was left only to the older model.

The Exynos 990 processor is installed inside orSnapdragon 865+ (depending on region) paired with 8 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage. There is no slot for memory cards. But there is NFC, water protection according to the IP68 standard, stereo speakers from AKG with Dolby Atmos support and a 4300 mAh battery with support for high-speed wired and wireless charging, as well as reverse wireless charging.

The dimensions of the smartphone are 161.6×75.2×8.3 mm, weight 194 g.

Galaxy Note 20 Ultra

The older model has a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2Xdisplay with rounded edges, 3088×1440 resolution, HDR10+ support and 120 Hz refresh rate. The fingerprint scanner is the same (ultrasonic) as the front camera - a 10-megapixel camera located in a circular cutout.

But the main camera is different:108 MP sensor (f/1.8) with optical stabilization, 12 MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a viewing angle of 120 degrees and 12 MP telephoto (f/3.0). Laser autofocus, 5x optical zoom and 50x zoom are announced, as well as support for shooting up to 8K at 24 fps.

The processor is the same - Exynos 990 or Snapdragon865+ (depending on the region), but there is more memory: 8 or 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128/256/512 GB of ROM. There is a slot for a MicroSD memory card up to 1 TB.

Autonomy is provided by a battery with a capacity4500 mAh with support for high-speed wired and wireless charging, as well as reverse wireless charging. There is NFC, water protection according to the IP68 standard and stereo speakers from AKG with Dolby Atmos support. The flagship dimensions are 164.8×77.2×8.1 mm, weight 208 g.

Updated S Pen stylus is even fasterLatency is 26ms on the Note 20 and 9ms on the Note 20 Ultra, and response times are reduced by 40% (Note 20) and 80% (Note 20 Ultra). There are five customizable gestures: Back, Home, Recent App, Smart Select and Screen Recording. It is now possible to take handwritten notes directly in PDF files, on images and in texts.

The “Connect with Windows” function has been expanded, whichhelps you switch between your smartphone and your computer and access mobile applications directly on your PC. Later this year, it will be possible to run multiple apps simultaneously on your PC.

Improved Samsung DeX mode, allowingstream content from your smartphone to TV and simultaneously work with other applications. At the same time, the flagship can be used as a touchpad and controlled with finger gestures: swipe up (recently used applications), down (home screen), left or right (switching between applications).

As expected, due to the partnership with MicrosoftThe flagships of the Galaxy Note 20 family can, to some extent, be considered gaming. All thanks to enhanced gaming AI, optimized Bluetooth audio response and 240Hz touch latency on the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. Also, starting September 15, smartphone owners will be able to play more than 100 Xbox games directly from the cloud (beta) with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Pre-orders open tomorrow.Sales will start on August 21: Galaxy Note 20 will cost from $1000, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra will cost from $1300. The first is available in Mystic Bronze, Mystic Black and Mystic White, the second - Mystic Bronze, Mystic Grey, Mystic Green.

In Ukraine, Galaxy Note 20 will cost 28,999 hryvnia, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra &#8211; 35,999 hryvnia (256 GB) and 41,999 hryvnia (512 GB). Sales start on August 21.
