Samsung announced a thin camera module with 5x optical zoom

Korean manufacturer Samsung has decided not to lag behind its competitor and also announced a mobile module

cameras with 5x optical zoom.

What is known

The sensor turned out very thin - only 5 mm. For comparison, this is less than a conventional module with a 2-fold approximation (about 6-7 mm). Such sizes were achieved thanks to the periscopic design. It, by the way, is similar to the similar in the Huawei P30 Pro and Oppo Reno 10x Zoom. No other details about the new module.

When to expect

Mass sensor production has already begun. Presumably, it will be the first to receive a Galaxy Note 10 phablet, although there is a small chance that Samsung will first test it on an A-series smartphone.
