Samsung announces cloud gaming service for Tizen TVs

During a speech at a developer conference, Samsung representatives announced that the company was releasing

into the cloud gaming arena.

What does it mean?

The new cloud gaming service is not intended forsmartphones, laptops or tablets, and for smart TVs running the Tizen operating system. The goal of the project is to allow “users to play the latest games on their Samsung Smart TVs equipped with the Tizen platform.”

Unfortunately, no more Samsung detailsdid not disclose. It is not specified which games will be available and when, or what other platforms they will work on, if any. Company representatives are also in no hurry to comment on the announcement.

By the way, Samsung is not completely new to this area.In the early 2010s, the manufacturer worked with game streaming company Gaikai to bring an early version of cloud gaming to its TVs. The system was even launched in beta testing, but then the new owner of Gaikai decided to go in a different direction. That owner was Sony, and this technology eventually evolved into the PlayStation Now service.

Competition has increased these days:Google operates its Stadia service, Amazon is working on Luna, and other gaming-focused companies like Microsoft and Nvidia have their own offerings.
