As noted, the speed of DDR6 memory will be12800 Mbps, and when overclocked - 17000 Mbps. If we compare the memory of the new generation and the existing DDR5, the regulated speed of which is 6400 Mbit / s, and when overclocked - 8500 Mbit / s, then we can safely assume that DDR6 will be able to take over all 20,000 Mbit / s.
The date for the release of the new memory, most likely, is 2026, not earlier.
Samsung is also developing memory for video cardsnew generation: GDDR6+ and GDDR7. They will successively replace each other. GDDR6+ will replace the GDDR6 memory used in most modern video cards.
Video memory speed GDDR6 +, according to statementsSamsung will be up to 24 Gbps. If the declared speed turns out to be real, video cards with 320-bit and higher memory bus will be able to provide a bandwidth of more than 1 TB / s, and video cards with a 256-bit bus - 768 GB / s.
DDR7 will have even more bandwidth - up to 32 Gbps. Cards with a 384-bit bus will be capable of 1.5 TB / s, while cards with a 256-bit bus will be capable of 1 TB / s.
Samsung also announced the development of memory forservers - HBM3. This type of memory is intended for processors and graphics accelerators of DATA centers. Its production should begin in the first half of 2022.
