These new Galaxy Buds Pro headphones are clearly designed to compete with Apple's AirPods Pro, so bloggers from the reputable resource decided to compare the two sets of headphones and record a video on YouTube.
What to buy? Galaxy Buds Pro or AirPods Pro
In terms of design, the Galaxy Buds Pro is not at allSimilar to AirPods Pro, with a rounded in-ear design without a stem. They have silicone tips like the AirPods Pro, but MacRumors videographer Dan, who tested the Galaxy Buds Pro, found them to be much more uncomfortable than the AirPods Pro.
They should fit snugly inside the ear,to ensure a proper fit and proper sealing, both to keep them in the ear and for the ANC function to function properly. Without a proper fit, the headphones will not sound right and the sound quality will suffer. Samsung offers several silicone eartips for a decent fit, but these headphones may not be suitable for some users.
Like the AirPods Pro, the Galaxy Buds Pro offeractive noise cancellation (ANC), which is good, but not as good as the ANC in AirPods Pro. The feature is definitely better than ANC in last year's Galaxy Buds Live, but still not on par with the AirPods Pro. There is an Ambient Mode equivalent to Transparency to allow ambient sounds to filter through, but again, this is normal and does not work as well as Transparency.
However, the Galaxy Buds Pro offer outstandinga feature that is not available in AirPods Pro and that is the voice recognition feature. Voice Detect reduces the volume and turns on Ambient Mode when it hears the sound of your voice, which is very convenient.
In terms of sound quality, the Galaxy Buds Provirtually indistinguishable from AirPods Pro. The audio on both sounds great, and the choice of one of them depends only on the individual preference of the listener. The Galaxy Buds Pro are heavier on bass, which is important for some. For the best sound quality, you really need good earbuds because they won't sound as good otherwise.
Galaxy Buds Pro come with a small anda pocket case that adds 18 to 20 hours of extra battery life depending on ANC usage. The Galaxy Buds themselves have five hours of battery life with ANC on and eight hours of battery life with ANC off. In comparison, AirPods Pro last 4.5 hours on a single charge with ANC enabled and five hours without ANC, but the case provides an additional 24 hours of listening time. Apple AirPods Pro charge wirelessly or through the Lightning port, while the Galaxy Buds Pro use USB-C.
Each side of the Galaxy Pro headphones hastouch controls, and taps let you play / pause, skip tracks, and turn the surround sound feature on and off. AirPods Pro offer similar controls, and they perform better.
Apple is developing AirPods Pro for usewith Apple devices, while the Galaxy Buds Pro are designed primarily for use with Samsung devices. There are a few features that only work when used with a Galaxy device, which is a bit new for Samsung. Previous earbuds were more feature independent and easily paired with other Android devices or even iPhones, but with the Galaxy Buds Pro, you'll lose some features without a Galaxy smartphone.
There is a one-touch pairing function forGalaxy Buds Pro settings with Galaxy smartphone (you will need to connect to iPhone manually) and there is a 360 Audio feature which is equivalent to the spatial audio feature in AirPods Pro. The guys weren't able to test 360 Audio because the update that includes it on Galaxy devices (other than the S21) isn't available yet.
Along with one-touch pairing of Galaxy BudsPro supports automatic device discovery and fast switching, but again only Galaxy devices. There is an app for adjusting the equalizer and other parameters, but it is only for Android, and there is no version for iPhone.
Overall, the Galaxy Buds Pro — reliableheadphones if you have a Galaxy smartphone, but these are not headphones you'll want to buy if you already have an iPhone because you'll miss out on so many features. They're also only $50 cheaper than the AirPods Pro, so you're better off spending $250 on the AirPods Pro if you have an Apple device.
