Samsung already has several different models of folding smartphones, but in all cases the screen folds
How it works
Such a device is described in a patent that wasfiled with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in October last year. The documentation was published the other day, and LetsGoDigital showed what such a smartphone could look like.

So, this is a “flip phone” similar to the Galaxy Z Flip. Its display can be folded both inward and outward, which of course requires some good work on the hinge.

In addition, the patent describes a dual frontala camera (without flash, using display light) and an under-screen fingerprint scanner. The latter, by the way, is not found in any folding smartphone—mostly the scanners in such devices are located on the side.

But for now this is just a patent, and it is unknownWill Samsung decide to bring this idea to life? Although, probably, it’s unlikely, because there is no need for such a design. In addition, such a smartphone will most likely be fragile and expensive.
