Samsung Promises New Approach to Galaxy Software Updates, But Not Now

The Android ecosystem has been moving towards seamless updates for a long time, that is, updates that

occur outside the service mode of the smartphone.This scheme is already used by some manufacturers, but not by the market leader – Samsung. Now that the distribution of One UI 5.0 on Android 13 has begun, this issue has been raised again. Android Authority spoke with company vice president Sally Jeong, and during the conversation the issue of seamless updates came up. The brand representative's response was that this issue is being worked on and Samsung hopes to implement them in One UI 6 next year. Journalists wanted to clarify whether the increased activity was related to the requirement of Android 13 for the presence of virtual A/B partitions, but there was no specific answer.

Also in the interview, the top manager noted that beforeBy the end of the year, Samsung plans to update the Galaxy S21, as well as the last two generations of foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip. By the way, a public beta version of One UI 5 for the Galaxy Z Flip 4 should become available soon. According to her, Samsung devotes a lot of time to support so that users feel that Galaxy smartphones – this is for a long time (a fairly frequent request lately), while the user experience does not stand still.
