Samsung Russian plant circumvents sanctions with 'parallel imports' from EAEU countries - media

Russian media, citing sources close to the government, report that foreign companies

those who continue to produce equipment at Russian factories have found a way to circumvent sanctions.

How it works?

An example is the plant of the South Korean giantSamsung in the Kaluga region. Here they produce products that are exported to the EAEU countries (Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan), after which they are imported and sold in Russia through “parallel imports”. As a result, producers can continue their activities, but at the same time declare the refusal to supply to the Russian market.

Head of the Russian representative office of Candy-HooverGroup Gleb Mishin confirmed that the Russian Samsung plant is working, but "it is not known on what components, the South Korean company does not officially supply spare parts now." He confirmed that Samsung sells stocks of TVs in Russia to the CIS countries, but he assures that he does not know if the equipment is returned through "parallel imports" back.

However, it should be understood that this is a completely problemwill not solve, since the import of components to Russia is still blocked. Therefore, most companies decided not to try to find ways to circumvent the sanctions, but simply to close factories in the Russian Federation.

Recall that “parallel imports” in RussiaThey call the “gray” import of prohibited equipment and other products into the country, that is, without the consent of the brand owner and bypassing official dealers. It was legalized in June. However, we wrote that Samsung blocks the activation of "gray" smartphones in Russia, and the gadgets themselves are more expensive.
