Samsung The First Look 2021: Neo QLED and Micro LED TVs, No Charge Remote and Other Future Technologies (Most Importantly, Explained On GIFs)

Every year at CES, Samsung unveils a new line of TVs and showcases its most advanced

technologies. This year, due to well-known events, the presentation with the modest title The First Look 2021 (literally, “first look”) was held online. And this time we were shown something much more than an update to the TV line. During the 45-minute presentation, not only the key TV series of 2021 were demonstrated, including designer ones. But there is also a new, next, technological breakthrough in televisions, comparable to the transition from monochrome televisions to color ones, the emergence of LCD televisions or more advanced televisions based on inorganic diodes or quantum dots. This is a new series of Neo QLED TVs with flagship models of 8K TV QN900A and 4K TV QN90A. As well as a new series of Micro LED TVs, the older models of which will have diagonals of 99 and 110 inches. For our most inquisitive readers in the world, we have selected all the most important and interesting things from the presentation.

Neo QLED

Samsung calls NEO QLED a quantum leap (hereYou can also see an obvious play on words - this is the development of quantum dot panels) in television display technologies. Instead of traditional LEDs with a lens to diffuse light, the new TVs use Quantum Mini LEDs, which are 40 (!) times smaller in height. They are placed in incredibly thin micro layers, allowing for much more precise control of light flows, making the image clearer thanks to a 12-bit brightness scale with 4096 gradations instead of 10-bit on previous generation TVs. The technology itself is called Quantum Matrix.

The heart of NEO QLED is the Neo Quantum processor. It uses 16 neural network models and deep learning technologies to upscale images to 4K and 8K resolution. And it processes the image in real time, additionally working with image noise, blurring, black contrast and detail.

The TVs have a frameless Infinity One design, these are thin panels with a connection block in a special Attachable Slim One Connect Box stand.

It is an elegant and simple solution for all externalwired connections to the TV. It folds down to wall mount your TV. In this case, of course, the connection cable still remains, although it is not visible in the presentation.

Micro LED

</ img>

Micro LED technology was previously used onlyfor creating commercial panels (for concert halls and outdoor advertising). In 2021, Samsung is releasing consumer TV models using it for the first time. It allows you to create large diagonal TVs up to 110 inches. Micro LED size is thinner than human hair. The TV uses 24 million of these self-illuminating inorganic LEDs, and the brightness of each is individually controlled to ensure a bright, clear picture. Micro LED TVs have a frameless monolithic screen design that occupies more than 99% of the front panel.

Solar Panel Remote Control

2021 Samsung TVs will have a newsolar-powered remote control. It will be able to charge the built-in battery indoors using daylight or lamps, but for reliability there is also a microUSB charging connector. It's surprising why no one thought of such a solution before. Samsung estimates that such a remote would prevent the waste of 99 million AAA batteries within seven years. To create it, a new production process was introduced that included 24% recycled materials, in particular plastic bottles.

New sound technologies: Object Tracking Sound (OTS) Pro and SpaceFit Sound

In addition to the image, of course, it could not be done withoutnew sound processing technologies. Object Tracking Sound (OTS) Pro allows you to track the movement of objects on the screen, accompanying them with corresponding changes in sound.

SpaceFit Sound uses special sensors to analyze the TV’s surroundings from physical objects and adapts the TV’s sound to the surrounding space, taking into account the characteristics of the room.

Samsung Health and Smart Trainer

The Samsung Health app has arrivedTVs, helping to monitor your health. The feature for TVs is called Smart Trainer. It requires a connected camera that analyzes the user's posture in real time while performing exercises, acting as a personal trainer.

Game Bar and Super Ultrawide GameView

Samsung has prepared a special surprise forgamers - it's no secret that TV today is often used for playing games on a huge screen. For gamers, there is a special Game Bar menu, FreeSync Premium Pro support for a smoother picture and a special Super Ultrawide GameView viewing mode, in which you can switch the TV to ultra-wide gaming monitor mode, allowing you to capture more of the image in the frame - the way the creators of the game intended (and, accordingly, gain an advantage in the game).

Computer on TV

The dream of working remotely is connecting to MS Office365 via your TV web browser to create and edit documents. This requires the Easy Connection app and a Samsung account. All that remains is to connect a keyboard and mouse to the TV, and you can work remotely by connecting to your working Windows computer.

4Vue (Quad View)

Another advantage of the large diagonalMicro LED TV series can be equipped with 4Vue or Quad View mode, which allows you to simultaneously connect up to 4 different image sources to the TV. For example, a common scenario is to play on one screen and watch the broadcast of its progress on the other.

Televisions for Everyone: Features for Visually and Hearing Impaired People

The 2021 Samsung TV ideology includesthe slogan Screens Everywhere. Screens for All. That is, screens are everywhere and screens for everyone. For example, Samsung smartphones have had a screen adaptation mode for people with visual impairments who perceive colors incorrectly for ten years already. Now these opportunities are coming to televisions.

Samsung TVs appear in 2021avatar sign language translator. A technology that combines sound recognition and the creation of avatars in real time (it's not for nothing that we have tested all these emoji in smartphones for several years, helping to train neural networks, now these technologies will serve humanity).

</ img>

By connecting a camera, the TV will be able to recognize commands made in sign language.

</ img>

In 2021, Samsung TVs will haveautomatic subtitles that recognize sound on the screen (not just voice). And in 2022, the company is committed to launching a voice guide for the visually impaired in different languages.

Eco-friendly packaging: now not only houses for cats

New packaging idea that transforms into homesfor cats, got a great sequel. First, Samsung is eliminating the use of inks applied to the box to make it easier to recycle corrugated board.

Secondly, cardboard from boxes is used to create many other toys:

Projection Laser TV

Finally, the last of the presented novelties, which is of interest is a projection TV that is placed at a distance of 10 centimeters from the wall with a screen and allows you to create an image with a diagonal of up to 130 inches. There are no specific details about him yet.

Now all that remains is to wait for all these new products to go on sale in order to appreciate all these, sometimes incredible, capabilities of modern TVs.
