Discuss
Court orders Samsung Electronics Australiato pay approximately $9.8 million within 30 days and an additional $140,000 in reimbursement for costs incurred by the Australian Consumer Commission. Samsung does not dispute the claims and has agreed to pay the fine.
The court ruled that the company deceivedusers when talking about the water resistance of seven Galaxy smartphones in nine advertisements between 2016 and 2018. We are talking about the models S7, S7 Edge, A5 (2017), A7 (2017), S8, S8 Plus and Note 8. The advertising claimed that the phones can be used in pools and sea water, but in fact they were not so water resistant.
