Samsung unveils ISOCELL HP2: a new 200-megapixel sensor for the flagship Galaxy S23 Ultra

Korean manufacturer Samsung, without waiting for the presentation on February 1, announced a new camera sensor.

The module was called ISOCELL HP2.It has a resolution of 200 MP, a size of 1/1.3 inches and 0.6 micron pixels. The new product boasts an expanded dynamic range, improved color reproduction, as well as a new Tetra2pixel pixel combining technology. In low-light conditions, the HP2 can combine 4 to 1 for 1.2 µm pixels with 50 MP resolution or 16 to 1 for 2.4 µm pixels and 12.5 MP image resolution.

ISOCELL HP2 can do continuous shooting withat 15 frames per second with a native resolution of 200 MP. That's twice the size of the HP3 and 50% better than the 100MP ISOCELL HM3 sensor. Another interesting thing in the new product is the Dual Vertical Transfer Gate (D-VTG) technology, which helps to avoid glare in the frame. The module supports 4K HDR shooting at 60 frames per second.

When to expect

Samsung has already started mass production of the ISOCELL HP2. The module will be installed in the new flagship Galaxy S23 Ultra.
