
Samsung Electronics today introduced ISOCELL Auto 4AC, its first automotive image sensor.
What for?
This sensor is intended for useas a rear view camera or (in more advanced systems) to power surround view monitors. It stands out for its high dynamic range (120 dB) and LED flicker reduction. Both are based on technology Samsung calls CornerPixel.

This technology combines two photodiodesper pixel: one 3.0 µm for working in low light conditions and one 1.0 µm located in the corner (hence the name) which will be used for bright lighting. As a result, the sensor quickly adapts to changes in ambient light, for example when exiting a tunnel. It also provides wide dynamic range with low motion blur and reduces LED backlight flicker.

ISOCELL Auto 4AC is a 1/3.7 sensorinches with a resolution of 1.3 MP (1280×960). It also meets AEC-Q100 Grade 2 requirements, meaning it operates in extreme temperatures ranging from -40°C to 125°C.
The sensor has already been put into mass production.
Meanwhile, The Korea Economic Daily reports,that Samsung Electro-Mechanics has signed a deal with “the leading electric vehicle manufacturer in the US.” It's not hard to guess that this is a Tesla. The transaction amount was $436 million.
Rumor has it that Samsung will supply Teslacameras for the Cybertruck, which he uses instead of side mirrors. Let us remind you that the truck was introduced in 2019 and should go on sale at the end of this year.
