Samsung's promised safety glass in a flexible clamshell called fiction

Samsung recently introduced the flexible folding phone Galaxy Z Flip. The company said it is the first to use

ultra-thin flexible protective glass.Well-known smartphone destroyer Zach Nelson decided to check how durable this glass, and indeed the entire device, is. As a result, the blogger did not come to the best conclusions.

On his YouTube channel JerryRigEverything Zachpublished a strength test of the device. During the inspection, the blogger called the promised protective glass in the Samsung flexible clamshell a fiction. The fact is that in the scratch resistance test, the Galaxy Z Flip screen coating “gave in” to a tool with the second level of hardness. The tool with the third level of hardness left significant marks. As Zach noted, plastic coating “behaves” in exactly the same way. The blogger suggested that Samsung actually used a hybrid plastic polymer with small inclusions of glass.

Zack thinks Samsung shouldn't have been calledGalaxy Z Flip screen cover with glass, as this is misleading consumers. They expect from the device the same characteristics that devices with a real glass coating have. And Samsung clamshell cannot provide them.
