Electronic document management
Despite the fact that even in Russian authorities electronic systems
Inside the school, an important part of EDI iselectronic journal / diary: it stores personal data of students and school staff, lesson timetable, data on office occupancy and homework. With the help of the electronic journal, the collection and automated analysis of data on the attendance and performance of children is carried out for the leadership of the school and parents, the municipality, and the region.
Electronic journal and diary automateinternal document flow in the school, and the teacher gives marks, marks missing, sees attendance - general and in quarters, receives data on the quality of teaching, academic performance, and schedules homework. Moreover, the results of the school year can be immediately summed up for all classes taught by the teacher. Parents also have access to the electronic journal online, which simplifies control over the child's learning, and the children themselves.
This creates a quality connection between the teacher andparent, thanks to which you can gain access to the most complete and correct information. True, at least at first, difficulties arise with maintaining reports, filling out topics, preparing a schedule, and issuing homework.
Electronic document management greatly simplifiesthe life of parents and structures the activity of children. Enrollment in educational circles, additional classes, monitoring school attendance and paying for meals: technology makes it all accessible in one click.
Public procurement system and online accounting
If we consider the digitalization of the entire school andthe introduction of EDF, the automation of accounting and finance cannot be ignored. Most of the schools in the world are owned and funded by municipalities. The most advanced solution for monitoring and optimizing purchases is electronic trading platforms. To make school finances transparent to founders, online bookkeeping is being introduced. Special software helps to keep records of incoming and outgoing documents, generate and send reports to the tax office in electronic form. This, again, should partially remove the load from the teaching staff, which should not have been on them.
There are only two key requirements for a good program:relevance of all databases (configuration updates according to the law) and the possibility of flexible customization for a specific institution. At the moment, all domestic management systems are based on "1C" - the products "Accounting" or "Enterprise Management". There is also a separate set of services for educational institutions. In particular, 1C: Enterprise. A set for the accounting department of an educational institution "or a general program for the entire school, offering comprehensive automation of all administrative and economic activities, collection of documents, their execution and reporting to higher authorities. When using these tools, all data is stored in the cloud and will be available to school employees in 1C, even when working remotely.
Analytics system
Today in one classroom there can be up to 35people, while in parallel, on average, from 3-4 to 5-6 classes. As a result, there may be about 2.3 thousand people in the entire secondary school. With such numbers, there is no chance that the teacher will be able to analyze the educational plan of each child, his academic performance and individual aptitudes to subjects. There are 17 children per teacher in Russia now.
But what a man cannot do, a machine will do:analytical systems today are a prerequisite for improving the quality of teaching. They are mostly used in higher education, but they have great potential in schools as well. Thanks to analytics systems, you can determine the level of children's involvement in the educational process, assess the progress of each, see who needs the help of a teacher, who has a risk, for example, not passing exams. In this case, conclusions are drawn not on the basis of grades, but, for example, by how much time the student does his homework, what is easier for him, and what he cannot cope with. Well-tuned analytics are a critical tool for principals and staff in leadership positions in the education system. It allows you to make accurate predictions of educational results and proactively influence them to improve academic performance, as well as track the risks of burnout of students and teachers.
High school students can access thesedata to compare yourself with peers and be motivated to improve your performance. In the lower grades, the results of analytics are needed primarily by teachers and parents.
Cloud storage and collaborative document editing services
Google Drive, Google Docs, Dropbox, MicrosoftTeams, Microsoft Office 365 and other similar services serve two purposes: they become a repository and allow you to organize collaboration on documents by granting access rights to individual users or groups. In the cloud storage, you can create a single content base for the entire school and be able to work with it at any time.
Keep all materials on local serversit is often inconvenient due to the restrictions on the amount of space allowed, so it is better for the teacher to master cloud services. In addition to them, you can give access to other teachers, parents, children, work with these materials from any device, which simplifies the process of educational activities. Working with cloud services is mainly done through a browser or application. For documents (texts, tables, presentations), the most convenient option is Google Drive, which provides 15 GB of space.
LMS with content bases and constructor
Learning management system, or platforms fordistance learning, today are becoming a necessity not only at a distance, but also inside the school. First of all, because it is a huge database of materials: video lectures, courses, presentations, textbooks, to which students and teachers get access at any time. The content base helps you to rationally use the study time and not waste it on unnecessary activities. Educators often talk about the problem of a lack of quality resources for assigning assignments - some even have to check written works sent in the form of photos to WhatsApp. This is hard work for a teacher, in addition, exercises from paper collections and textbooks have long been posted on the websites of the GDZ (ready-made homework assignments). And the creation of new tasks individually for each student requires a huge amount of time and high competence.
Therefore, the optimal choice isonline resource. In the two weeks of transition to telecommuting in the first wave, the number of teachers using such platforms increased from 64 to 85%. Of those who have not used such services before, 75% have used them, and 43% of them said they would continue to work with them. Thanks to online platforms, it is no longer required, as before, to come up with different options for assignments for students for several days - you can get unique options for the entire class in a few seconds. For example, the generator of tasks "YaKlass" can do from 50 variants of one task on any subject, and in the case of mathematical problems, their number can reach 100 thousand.
The huge advantage of educational platforms inthe fact that they help to implement an automated personalized approach to students, depending on their performance. In particular, "YaKlass" provides methodological maps on the content, teaches the teacher to select the right tasks for students based on their level. The same analytics, only local, on the platform.
The presence of video content in LMS helps out in a situationwhen the teacher for some reason cannot teach the lesson. Also, on the online platform, you can implement the learning technology through case studies: children receive a set of text and multimedia materials and methodological recommendations and work independently. The task of the teacher is to track the results, advise and guide the student in the right direction. The technique is excellent primarily for mixed education. It helps to teach children independence, which is most valuable for schoolchildren in grades 9-11: it is a good preparation for higher education. In the first wave, 57% of students analyzed the material on their own and then sent homework to the teacher.
LMS also allows you to monitor progressstudents, receive any information about them, upload their own materials, build an individual curriculum for the child. The teacher can see, for example, how often the student entered the platform (opened the assignment), what mistakes he made in the tests, he can create virtual classes, online courses.
Communication systems
Communication between all participants in the educationalthe process is carried out through two channels: video conferencing systems and chats or a social network. Chats are mostly required for discussing issues between parents and teachers, students and teachers, or for communication between teachers within the school, less often - for sending homework (as a backup channel). It is important to choose one chat so that information does not get lost in several applications. For convenience, chat can be integrated into the general school platform as part of a smartphone application.
Video conferencing systems in the first placerequired for online planning sessions, educator seminars and of course online classes. During the spring of 2020, 50 thousand teachers in Moscow conducted remote lessons using nine platforms, including Zoom, Google Meet, Skype. Also in March, the Russian company TrueConf provided free access for 1,000 subscribers to the video conferencing system for educational institutions in Russia and the CIS. But by September, there was only one option left that is acceptable for many Moscow schools - Microsoft Teams. There are no such strict restrictions for the regions, so they can use any solution. This contributes to the emergence of new services: for example, those announced by Yandex and Mail.Ru. True, they will appear only by 2022.
The need to conduct video tutorials determinednew requirements for conferencing platforms. Variants in which no more than 25 participants can be connected at the same time are no longer suitable - modern classrooms are often staffed to the maximum, which is 30–35 people. They cannot be in the conference room at the same time. Therefore, educators need to choose analogs that can connect a larger number of participants: Skype with the ability to connect 250 people, TrueConf - up to 1,000, Zoom with a limit of up to 100 participants at the basic rate and up to 1000 with an extended corporate plan.
Project training
This term refers to a learning model thatfocused on students and having a close connection with the practical side of the world - the applied side of science. For the educational system, project-based learning is significant primarily because it demonstrates the real value of the knowledge acquired and the possibility of using it in practice.
Project activities cover almost the entire school curriculum and motivate children to independently study the school curriculum in order to solve global and local problems.
Among modern services based ontechnologies of project training can be distinguished, for example, "GlobalLab" - a single "repository" of projects, which each participant fills with their own results. Among the projects there is a universal reader's diary, which is filled by schoolchildren who like to read and want to share their impressions, a catalog of emotions that helps to reveal all facets of the human character, and the study of global warming processes.
Some systems, such as MEL Science,They also use VR/AR systems, which make it possible to give children more practical knowledge in areas such as chemistry, physics, biology, and also serve as an excellent tool for studying cultural disciplines.
VR / AR systems
Virtual and augmented reality is notonly about games, but also about an extended educational experience. VR or AR content is becoming a tool like a paper textbook. This includes, for example, 360º videos, thanks to which, during a geography lesson, you can almost literally be on the top of Mount Everest or see the underwater world of the Pacific Ocean from the inside. VR technologies are also an excellent tool for the study of cultural disciplines - with their help, you can, for example, visit a museum through the application The VR Museum of Fine Art.
But more importantly, AR and VR enablechildren more practical knowledge in such areas as chemistry, physics, biology. Especially when it comes to distance education: you cannot pass electrical circuits to children through a computer in order to see how a light comes on when they are properly closed. But you can do all this through an interactive platform. It is the same with "mixing" liquids for chemical experiments on a computer or performing surgical operations. A VR workshop at Yale University showed that students made 6 times fewer mistakes during "virtual surgery".
Using AR and VR closes the needstudents in the practical implementation of skills. On Internet portals there are entire virtual laboratories where you can conduct chemical experiments without harm to the interior of the apartment or your own health.
