Sociologists from the National Research University Higher School of Economics and the Institute of Sociology of the Federal Scientific Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences found out whether there is a generational conflict in Russia.

Scientists were interested in the period from 1994 to 2020. The authors of the work used the data of the all-Russian monitoring RLMS-HSE.
They found that since 1994 the dialogue betweenmore than 50% of the country's population are ready for generations. The share of negatively inclined people has decreased. Interestingly, young people were more inclined to dialogue than the elderly. It also turned out that in villages, where traditional values are stronger, “the conflict of generations is felt deeper and more acute than in cities.”
In general, the generation gap is consideredirresistible older people. And they are less likely to be open to understanding and compromise. “One of the main factors that reduce mutual understanding is distrust of people and a feeling of loneliness. Those who do not trust do not seek to understand others in principle, and the lonely close themselves in their space, trying to keep others at a safe distance, ”summed up the authors of the study.
