Scientists get closer to communicating with pigs

Scientists have reported that for the first time they have converted the grunting of a pig into an emotion.

to understand these animals.

Researchers trained an artificialintelligence (AI) on 7414 pig grunts. These records were collected at all life stages of 411 pigs, including before slaughter. This algorithm could potentially be used in an application for pig breeders to tell if an animal is happy simply by the sound it makes. At the same time, the algorithm can also be used to better understand the emotions of other mammals.

Scientists said that the program candecipher whether the pig is experiencing positive emotions (“happy” or “excited”), negative (“scared” or “stressed”), or something in between.
