Google results may refer parents toan old study that concluded that babies' crying usually peaks around six weeks of age, after which it becomes noticeably less frequent. However, a new study challenges these findings.

Scientists received two mathematical models, and neitherone of them does not show that the duration of crying noticeably decreases after five weeks. One model shows that the peak of baby crying occurs after four weeks. On the other - that babies cry a lot and at a stable level during the first weeks, after which the level of crying drops. However, none of the models indicates a sharp decline. Overall, the researchers concluded that crying is an important part of many babies' lives beyond six months.

The scientists added that crying may or may not be healthy. It is believed that a child cries too much when he does this for more than three hours a day, more than three days a week.
