The authors of a new scientific work conducted an experiment withparticipation of 48 people aged 18-44 years. They are all used to eating sweet foods. The volunteers were told that they were studying their taste preferences, although the purpose of the experiment was different.

The subjects were shown images of 60 products.nutrition. The first half of these products were labeled as “sugar-free” and the other half as “sugar-containing.” Participants were asked to indicate how much they would pay for each item. They were then divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental group listened to a nutritionist talk about how bad sugar is for health. The control group listened to a story about handwriting.

It turned out that before listening to a lecture on sugar, the subjects were ready to buy a sugar-containing product for 45 rubles, and after that, for an average amount of six rubles less.

“Our results allowsuggest that the consumption of junk food can be influenced by causing fear and sadness in a person. This can help develop new marketing approaches that influence food choices. We also suggest using the stories of health experts as a measure to improve adult nutrition,” the researchers noted.
