The remains of a woman who lived 5,000 years ago were found in Germany. From them, scientists have identified a deadly diet
During excavations, the remains were in a hunched position, as if the woman had pulled her legs to her stomach. However, this is not what interested scientists most.
They noticed that the woman's teeth were very worn. Researchers concluded that she had contracted a fatal tooth infection at one time.
The reason for this could be the human diet. At the time when the woman was alive, people were just beginning to consume grain. The food was very hard and could slowly destroy teeth.
Scientists are not yet sure if the tooth infection was the cause of the woman's death, but signs point to it.
