Scientists have done genome sequencing of long-lived monkeys

According to the authors of the study, capuchins have a relatively large size among other monkeysbrain, and

they can also live beyond 50 years. Previously, their gene had not been sequenced. Now, for the first time, scientists have decided to study the evolution of these traits. 

Using a comparative genomic approach:It covers a wide range of mammals, and the authors of the work have identified genes that have been evolutionarily selected for increased lifespan and brain development. 

This is how the authors of the work found evidencegenetic adaptation to drought and seasonal conditions among capuchins. In addition, they identified genes associated with DNA damage response, metabolism, cell cycle and insulin signaling.

DNA damage is believed to be majoraging factor, and previous studies by Prof. de Magallhaes and others have shown that genes involved in DNA damage responses exhibit longevity-specific selection patterns in mammals.

Often, genes associated with aging playmultiple roles, so it is impossible to say with certainty whether selection in these genes is related to aging or to other life history traits, such as growth rate and developmental time, which in turn are correlated with longevity.
