Scientists have figured out how the intestine heals itself

damage itself.

Researchers have seen this through experimentson mice. It turned out that gut pain neurons (nociceptors) can secrete a special substance P, which reduces inflammation and promotes recovery after injury. The fact is that this substance increases the number of Clostridium bacteria.

Interestingly, simply transplanting these bacteria from healthy mice into sick mice does not work. But the introduction of substance P has an effect.
